Mum Got Sick On Our Holiday: episodes, cast and cost

Mum Got Sick On Our Holiday: the story so far

The holiday is hardly underway before the family's mum falls ill, and she pins it on the prawns. Confined to bed, she gives her husband one assignment: make sure Harriet has fun for the whole week. Her trust in him is total; she says no woman could wish for a better husband, and she phones down regularly from the floor above, near enough to count and too far away to help.

Harriet is 23, a little jittery, plainly keen and far more daring than she seems at first. The laughs come from the stepfather, who narrates his own rising alarm, and from Harriet's knack for turning each harmless holiday errand into a test of his willpower. The script is packed with British slang and quick side remarks, and the formula is straightforward: sun, a wife upstairs who trusts him, and a man who keeps wondering if he ought to refuse.

A good fit if: you enjoy cringe comedy, a narrator who overthinks everything and an adult step-family setup played for laughs.

Mum Got Sick On Our Holiday: how it is structured

The five episodes are short rather than sprawling. Each lasts roughly a minute, is filmed vertically and takes the plot one step on.

Episode 1: Doctor's orders, or so she says

Harriet informs him that Mum has decided he must keep her company all week, on doctor's orders. Her mother, ill ever since they arrived, blames the prawns, says sorry for spoiling the trip and wants her husband to keep Harriet amused, sure that her daughter is in good hands. Her daughter seizes on the word hands, and the awkward back-and-forth about his hands that follows does not go well for him.

Next up is sun cream. Her back is always Mum's job, Harriet says, because she cannot reach it herself. He goes along with it, and from there she keeps testing the limits. When her mother rings to check, Harriet tells her he is being very good and really hands-on, a fib he notes she tells poorly. Then she proposes a curtained VIP daybed, billed to Mum's card and allegedly just for shade. He asks himself out loud whether he ought to say no.

Episode 2: free with registration

The second part continues straight on and is free, although Candy AI wants you registered first (no cost, adults only). Our recap stops after episode 1, so nothing later is given away.

Episodes 3 to 5

Past that point, Mum Got Sick On Our Holiday asks for tokens. The table shows the price of each chapter, and we spoil nothing past episode 1.

Characters in Mum Got Sick On Our Holiday

The lead is 23-year-old Harriet, who is the one making plans, and on Candy AI she uses the Harriet Seagrave profile. Her stepfather tells the story and goes unnamed in episode 1, while her mother, his wife, is unwell throughout and calls down from upstairs. There is no Candy Creator digital twin here. All three are AI-generated, fictional adults.

Mum Got Sick On Our Holiday: content level

The opener is comic flirtation: gags about his hands, a sun cream job that strays where it should not, and a scheme for some privacy behind the daybed curtains. Nothing said goes further than innuendo. The setup is a stepfather tempted by his grown stepdaughter while his wife rests upstairs, and the paid chapters go further. For viewers aged 18 and up only.

Mum Got Sick On Our Holiday: our opinion

Give it a go if you want temptation served with jokes. Harriet's chatter and her stepfather's nonstop commentary make episode 1 properly funny, and you get two chapters for free. Harriet Seagrave, the same profile, also leads Under the Chief, a hospital drama with a very different tone.
